Profunda Artery Perforator (PAP) Flap
Some women deposit an abundance of fat along the back of the thigh. The excess skin and fat from the back of the upper thigh can be used to create a breast. The PAP Flap removes extra fatty tissue from the upper thigh without any thigh muscle removed. The scar is usually located a little below the groin and buttock crease, and may be visible in a bathing suit until the scar fades.
MRA imaging of the thigh enables Dr. Vasile to identify the blood vessel characteristics and exact locations of the vessels nourishing the thigh tissue. This knowledge can help identify suitable patients and donor sites for surgery.
