DIEP Flap Testimonial

For many years I knew I would someday decide to have a prophylactic breast mastectomy.   In my mind I always figured I would have implants since that was all I knew was available.  This changed the day I had my consultation with you.   My breast surgeon had given me a list of plastic surgeons and had briefly mentioned you did a DIEP flap procedure (I had NO idea what that was).  After quickly viewing your website I decided I would like to meet with you for a consultation. 

During our lengthy consult and your description of the DIEP flap procedure, I soon realized the DIEP was the way I wanted to proceed. You educated me on the procedure and completely put me at ease during the consultation.  There was no question in my mind I wanted you to be my Plastic Surgeon for the prophylactic breast mastectomy.  You are caring, knowledgeable, and a fantastic listener!  What more could I want from my doctor. 

As the surgery grew closer I was also impressed with your office staff and how the insurance issues were worked out.  You and your staff did all the hard work, which was so reassuring.  I was so focused on my upcoming surgery that dealing with insurance issues was the last thing on my mind. 

The day of my surgery arrived in April 2010 and I was NERVOUS.  However your bedside manner is extremely calming and I felt very much at peace.  The surgery went well and my recovery was fantastic.  Your visits to me during my hospital stay were helpful in making me feel like I was healing properly.  I knew you would be more than willing to answer any questions or concerns I had during my recovery period (even if they seemed silly!). 

I am thrilled with my decision to have done the DIEP flap breast reconstruction. I love how natural my breasts look and feel. And to have a tummy tuck as part of the procedure is such a lucky bonus!  You are a true artist in your field and I honestly feel that my body looks the way it does now because of your passion and your expertise.  I couldn't ask for a better outcome. 

As my reconstruction process comes to an end I will really miss having my appointments with you (and so will my husband!!).

In many ways I feel although my mother passed away she somehow guided me in my decision to have the prophylactic breast mastectomy and put you in my path.  I know she would be just as happy as I am to have done the DIEP flap procedure with you!
