Patient 9 Radiation Delayed
These photographs are of a woman with history of right breast cancer, treated with a right mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. The right breast skin was stiff and contracted down to her chest. The goal of the patient was smaller, natural breasts. The patient noted her breasts changed after breast feeding, and her goal was also for her breasts to be uplifted. She had a delayed (not at the time of mastectomy) DIEP flap breast reconstruction.
Below is the preoperative picture.
Below is a photograph 4 months after right DIEP flap breast reconstruction. The patient required skin from the abdomen to her right breast reconstruction to create a more natural looking breast. A right nipple reconstruction and left symmetrizing breast reduction were also performed. The abdominal scar will fade more at 1 year.
